Rehabilitation Medicine Depart

       The dept. was founded in 1992 and formerly named Physiotherapy Department. At present, it has become one of the largest rehabilitation departments in Western China with extensively varied treatments after more than twenty years’ development. The dept. is authorized as one of provincial key disciplines in 2014, and provides medical treatment and rehabilitation combined with research and education in rehabilitation. The dept. covers 2600 square meters with 100 beds and comfortable, clean, barrier-free facilities, specializing in sequential treatment and rehabilitation for acute and convalescent patients with neurological dysfunction afer cerebrovascular accident. The dept. also provides integrated rehabilitation training for patients with neurologic dysfunction after spinal cord injury, brain injuries, Parkinson's Disease, Guillain-BarreSnydrome, multiple sclerosis, myelitis, multiple system atrophy, inflammatory diseases of the brain and peripheral nerve injury, and a wealth of comprehensive rehabilitation experience were accumulated with satisfactory curative effect. Besides the routine PT, OT and ST treatment, the dept. also carries out an array of international innovative techniques: 3-D gait analysis system to assess patient gait objectively and quantificationally, hydrotherapy to ease pain and muscle tone, ceiling lift system to transfer patients, robotic gait training to improve walk function, cognitive evaluation and training by the computer, dynamic balance training evaluation and training technology, virtual environment training, core constant evaluation and training technology, the training for the patients with dysphagia. As one of the earliest rehabilitation resident training bases in Sichuan, the dept. is responsible for master and doctor education of rehabilitation and more than 10 master students were trained. The dept. also undertakes a number of national and provincial clinical and fundamental research projects, including 3 national and 12 provincial items under the lead of Professor Yu, chief of the department. We have published 154 articles and awarded 3 provincial third prize of technology progress, which made an outstanding contribution in the fields of basic theory research in cerebrovascular disease rehabilitation and research for standard rehabilitation guideline.
